About Uncompensated Care
Seattle Children’s provided $184 million in uncompensated care in 2019,
helping to ease the financial burden of medical expenses for families
throughout Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. Uncompensated care
allows our medical experts to treat all children, regardless of their
family’s ability to pay, so parents can be at their child’s bedside. The
fundraising efforts of the guilds are a vital source of uncompensated
care contributions, helping keep the hospital’s founding promise to the
community to care for all children in our region.
About the Autism Center
In August 2009, Seattle Children’s opened its Autism Center to provide
comprehensive and timely services to autism patients. The Center is
programmed to provide a full range of family-based care from early
childhood through young adulthood. The Center is able to draw on the
medical research expertise of a nationally recognized children’s
hospital, while also providing necessary treatment, family support and
therapy options tailored to address the evolving personal needs of each
patient served.
